Overview

A Norway-headquartered semiconductor company launched a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations implementation project in 2024. Because regional operations involve specific tax rules and declaration formats, global standard F&O needed localized functionality to support compliance.

The Challenge

Although global F&O is mature, local tax rules and declaration formats have strict requirements.

  • Manual Bottlenecks: The semiconductor supply chain moves quickly, and invoice, allowance, voiding, and other document scenarios are diverse. Manual processes are time-consuming and increase error risk.
  • Project Friction: Cross-time-zone and multi-vendor collaboration requires clear version update, test script, and change processes. Otherwise, repeated revisions can cause rework.
  • Training Needs: Users needed to understand how different roles operate within invoicing, audit, and management processes.

Solution & Implementation

To guarantee compliance without compromising the global architectural rollout, Tectura collaborated internationally with Norwegian consulting firm Insprit365.

  • Implementing the D365 F&O localized module and reports to support invoice issuance, allowances, declaration file export, and related processes.
  • Working with Insprit365 and customer headquarters to define version update guidelines, test scripts, and change processes, reducing the impact of updates on local functionality.
  • Planning role-based training for accounting, audit, and management users.
  • Planning custom development and third-party OCR software integration to support future invoice recognition and automation needs.

Results & Impact

Area Before After
Local Compliance Global standard F&O could not fully support local invoice and declaration requirements. The localized module and reports supported regulatory processes.
Document Processing Invoice, allowance, and voiding scenarios were numerous, creating pressure from manual work. The project is expected to shorten month-end closing and tax declaration time while reducing errors and rework.
Audit Tracking The document-to-declaration process needed to be traceable. End-to-end traceability from documents to posting and declaration files was established.
Project Maintenance Multi-party collaboration and version evolution easily caused repeated revisions. Standard processes and checklists for version upgrades were established.

A Norway-headquartered semiconductor company launched a D365 F&O implementation project in 2024. Tectura collaborated across borders with Norwegian consulting firm Insprit365, taking responsibility for the localized reports, OCR integration planning, training, and technical support to help the customer meet local regulatory requirements under a global standard.

Localization challenges in multinational ERP implementations are rarely just functional gaps. They involve regulation, processes, version updates, and cross-team collaboration. This case shows that a consulting team with local compliance capabilities and cross-border collaboration experience can help enterprises reduce implementation and future maintenance risks.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does global F&O need an additional localized module?

Because specific tax rules and declaration formats have local regulatory requirements that global standard F&O cannot fully support out of the box.

What is Tectura responsible for in this project?

Tectura is responsible for the localized module, localized reports, custom development and OCR integration planning, training, and technical support.

How should the results of this case be described?

Because the project is still under implementation, it is more appropriate to describe expected benefits, including shorter month-end closing and declaration time, fewer errors, and traceable processes.

How did Tectura help manage the complexity of a global ERP implementation?

Tectura worked closely with the customer’s headquarters and implementation partner, Insprit365, to establish structured processes for version updates, testing, change management, and localization requirements, helping reduce implementation risks and future maintenance challenges.

Can Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations support future automation initiatives?

Yes. As part of the project roadmap, Tectura planned custom development and OCR software integration to automate invoice recognition and related financial processes, creating a foundation for greater efficiency and digital transformation.
